Project Description
Need StatementA way to improve long-term post-operative pain management for invasive surgeries so patients are no longer at risk for pharmaceutical addiction or issues surrounding the use of external pain-management devices.

Project ScopeAmong patients of invasive surgeries that lead to long-term pain, there is a need for a better type of pain modulation therapy. The current therapies, like opioids and pain pumps, have significant downsides. The goal is to deliver a better pain modulation therapy, one that does not foster dependence, and does not require additional surgeries. The plan is to deliver a prototype of a pain modulation device that meets all of these requirements and can be tested in animal models by the end of April.
